PROVO — UVU posted a program first Saturday at the Marriott Center, besting crosstown rival BYU 114-101 in the Wolverines’ first win over the Cougars.
Here’s a few observations:
UVU hot from outside
The Wolverines (4-1) set a Marriott Center record by hitting 18 3-pointers, making 48.6 percent of their shots (18 of 37) from outside. That included 12 3-pointers in the first half to help the Wolverines hold a slim 54-52 lead at the break. A key stretch in the first half was fueled by 3s, as UVU turned a five-point deficit into a double-digit lead with a 15-0 run over 1:15, all on 3-pointers.
