When you hear the term “verticality”, you think of Roy Hibbert and the Indiana Pacers.
But when younger players come to Indiana, Frank Vogel doesn’t show them video of Hibbert defending the rim. The Indiana Pacers coach shows them clips of the committed runner, Luis Scola.
Last month on the Lowe Post podcast Zach Lowe and Paul Flannery were discussing how Kevin Love needed to improve his rim defense when Lowe dropped that small bit of information. Though Scola hasn’t been known for his defense, Lowe shared that Vogel uses him as an example of how to defend the rim.
