Why Larry Bird Drafts So Many Old Players

We know that Larry Bird wants the Indiana Pacers to play smaller and faster last season. He seems to have grown tired of the plodding, “smashmouth” style that got the team to a few Eastern Conference finals but has seemingly run its course.

He wants to get with the trend of the league, and have a more position-less roster where guys are interchangeable, skilled, and able to play in a variety of ways. He has even called for the skinny Paul George to play some power forward next season.

Time will tell whether this comes to fruition in just one offseason, but coach Frank Vogel has echoed the comments.
