Ohio State Reportedly Hiring Thomas Morton As Its Assistant Tight Ends Coach

Ohio State’s offensive coaching staff continues to grow.

According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Buckeyes are adding Samford quarterbacks coach Thomas Morton as an assistant tight ends coach. Morton becomes the third new offensive assistant Ryan Day has hired in 2026, joining wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton and offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

Morton, whos viewed in the coaching space as an up-and-coming offensive mind, was quarterbacks coach at Samford this past season after previously working at Auburn and Troy.
