BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Amanda Winters launched a grand slam over the scoreboard in the top of the first inning and that would be all the runs Troy would need in a 4-2 victory over UAB at Mary Bowers Field on Tuesday night.
Besides Winters' grand slam, the Trojans got big offensive nights from Ashley Rainey and Becca Hartley, who had two hits each.
Troy (16-5) loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first as Kate Benton reached on an infield single, Erica Davis walked and Hannah Day was hit by a pitch. Winters wasted no time as she took the first pitch she saw from Cara Goodwin over the wall in right field for her fifth homer of the season.
