Heat advisory in effect Monday and Tuesday as temperature soars.

Extreme heat, coupled with high humidity, will make it feel as hot as 104 degrees in parts of the Hartford area, the National Weather Service says.

The heat advisory is in effect for parts of northern Connecticut, including parts of Hartford County. People are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms and stay out of the sun. They also should wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.

The Hartford area has already had one heat wave in June and two more in July. Starting Saturday, the temperature was expected to reach 90 degrees for as many as five straight days, and the heat index will remain high even at the shoreline.
