A hit-and-run driver struck a police officer who was directing traffic on Tuesday, causing a minor injury, police said.
At 8:50 a.m., the officer was directing traffic at Main Street and Carter Lane when a driver disregarded directions and hit the officer’s arm, police said. The driver then entered the oncoming lane and accelerated toward a second officer while yelling profanities, refusing to stop, police said.
The vehicle was described as a grey, four-door sedan with partial Connecticut license plate of 625, police said. Officers described the driver as a thin, white male with a tan complexion, about 25 years old, with long blond hair, pierced nose and other facial piercings.
